What I'm Loving Right Now

Chunky knits - sweaters and scarves that I can wrap myself in, especially on a chilly day like today!

Barre classes. I loved the mixture of ballet, yoga and Pilates so much, I mentioned in an earlier post I took my teacher training and started teaching a few classes a week at Barre Body Studio and Pilates Eq! Such a fun exercise and a complete total-body workout. You see RESULTS pretty quickly! Ladies, if you haven't tried a class I highly recommend you do. I am completely addicted! And my butt has lifted. Seriously.

I instagrammed and Tweeted my love for EcoTools earth-friendly makeup brushes the other day. Affordable and effective and made from natural and recycled materials which gets a thumbs up from me ; ).

Nail polish. Confession: I didn't start wearing nail polish until one of my nails grew in incorrectly, like sideways, it was really weird and gross so I had to cover it up with polish. Now I don't go a day without it on my nails and it helps prevent me from chewing my nails. My favorite brands: OPI and Essie! I also have this on at all times.

This Acne Velocite shearling-lined jacket is everything. If only I had over two grand to spend on it ; ).

What are you loving right now? Have a great weekend!

Swept Bridal Event

Gorgeous display of cakes, sweets and treats from Over The Top Cakes

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the Swept Bridal event at the Royal Glenora Club and boy was I impressed. Twenty five vendors from Edmonton and surrounding areas came together for a non-traditional, boutique-style bridal fair offering brides-to-be to experience the beauty of a wedding with the best in decor, cakes, design, hair, makeup dresses, stationary and more. I was blown away with every single theme room - and there were four - the Inspiration Room, the Beauty Room, the Sweet Room and the Groom Room. I will admit I spent most of my time drooling over all of the desserts in the Sweet Room, don't judge ; ). Congrats to Erin Walker, Morgan Hrynyck and Hans Kristian Larsen for putting on a very successful event. I was literally SWEPT away (tee hee) and am excited and inspired to plan my wedding! Below are some more photos from the event.

I fell in love with this pretty dessert display at the Style Cakes Custom Bakery booth

Gorgeous right?! The Art of Cake. Flowers by Cory Christopher.

All of the desserts were styled by the very talented DESSERT STYLIST (!!!) Lindsey Wheatley of LOVEinc. She has the best job ever.

Vintage lace from Delica Bridal

My friends from Glow Juicery handed out healthy samples. (I drink about 3 or 4 of these a week, they're delcious!) They have a juicery in the same location where I teach barre classes and will be opening another location in Sherwood Park very soon!

Personalizing Your Wedding Dress

I recently chatted with the Edmonton Journal about how to inject personal style into your bridal wear like Man Repeller Leandra Medine, Avril Lavigne and Ann Hathaway (above) and what brides MUST consider when choosing their wedding dress. You can check out the article here and see some beautiful photos of my friend and fellow blogger Vickie (who also wrote the article!) playing dress-up in some absolutely gorgeous gowns from Delica Bridal

Polka Dot Party

Sometimes it's hard to come up with blog post titles. (Bloggers, am I right?!) "Polka Dot Party" was all I could muster up today. This post should really be called, "I'm trying not to slip on the ice and fall on my a*s wearing these 3 1/2" heels" but that would be distasteful. So "Polka Dot Party" it is!

The Week's Best Celebrity Photobombs

Jennifer Lawrence creeps up on Taylor Swift and tells her she was going to push her down the stairs at the Golden Globe awards last Sunday.

And Ryan Phillipe got photobombed by a not-so-shy lady while walking down a street in Hollywood yesterday.

But nothing will ever beat my favorite photobombs of all time:

Zach Braff

And this squirrel:

Red

I have a new favorite red lipstick to match my favorite red coat: Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso. It doesn't bleed and lasts a really long time. Very rarely do I match the color of my lips with what I'm wearing, except if I'm wearing red ; ).

I hope you're all having a great week!

Golden Globes: Best & Worst Dressed

Ok, so instead of "Best and Worst Dressed" let's call this my "Favorite and Least Favorite Dressed Celebs" at the 2014 Golden Globes. ("Worst" is such a harsh word, isn't it?) I think Zooey Deschanel looked amazing  in this soft, romantic and feminine Oscar de la Renta dress. Reese Witherspoon's teal Calvin Klein dress was my favorite, it really complimented her hair and skin tone and Cate Blanchett, wearing a black, lace Armani dress looked absolutely stunning. Her hair style and accessories pulled this look together perfectly.

My least favorite: Julia Roberts in Dolce & Gabanna. I mean, she wore a buttoned up shirt for heaven's sake! She looks too casual and too covered-up. I would expect someone like Diane Keaton to wear something like this, not Julia Roberts. Sandra Bullock's color-blocking Prabal Gurung dress just didn't do anything for me and Paula Patton looked like she was hiding a person under those ruffles in Stephane Rolland Couture. Not a fan!

Did you watch the Golden Globes last night? What did you think? I thought the best part about the show wasn't the fashion, the best part was Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosting, don't you think? They were hilarious! Those two should host every single awards show from now on! I'll start a petition ; ).

Wedding Details & Inspiration

I kinda figured out how Pinterest works! I know I am waaay late in the game but better late than never, right?! Anyways, you can follow me here if you like. Pinterest has been great for wedding planning, above are some photos that have inspired me. And I can finally share with you some of our wedding details! We will be getting married in California (where we got engaged) this fall, it will be a very small affair, with about 25 of our closest family and friends and then a few weeks later we'll be throwing a party in our hometown at a loft-style event space (think brick walls, wooden tables, tiny white Christmas lights) downtown with approximately 100 people to celebrate. So I will get to wear my wedding dress twice! (I picked it out, it's on order and it's nothing like what I initially wanted, funny how that works once you start trying gowns on.) It's kinda like I'm planning two different styles of weddings though, which has been a lot of work. I have so much to do still! But I'm an organized person and I'm also counting on my Type A personality to come in handy in the next few months ; ).

Have you planned a wedding? Was it fun? Stressful? Or both? Let me know in the comment section below! And feel free to offer me any type of advice, I will gladly accept ; ).

My Favorite Winter Trend

After a little break from the blog over the holidays which mostly consisted of spending quality time with family and friends, watching episode after episode of 'The Good Wife' on Netflix (it's so good!!) and making more wedding plans, I am back and ready for 2014! I didn't make any New Year's resolutions this year except to keep working on the ones I made last year (eat healthier, de-clutter my life, be a better person, increase my styling business, etc.) I'm a work in progress! What about you? Did you write down any goals for 2014?

So it was soooo cold out yesterday (almost -40 with the windchill) I had to have these outfit photos taken inside. (Thank you Susanna!) I met up with a few other lovely local bloggers where we were photographed for the Edmonton Journal. We were all interviewed about our favorite winter trend. (Mine: faux fur, all the way.) The article will be out either this Friday or the next!
